The Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade fired a longtime black employee after the club's finance manager told him, "Big n----rs like you should be hung from a tree," the man says in a racial discrimination claim in Miami-Dade County Court.

Winn-Dixie Montgomery demoted a black employee after she participated in an investigation of whether her manager, co-defendant Brent Sellers, used racial slurs and brought a hangman's noose to work, she claims in Mobile Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith/Bank of America, Faesian Inc., and Richard Fleischman & Associates, in Manhattan Federal Court; Federal Technology Solutions, in Orange County Court, Calif.; Choice Wireless, in an overtime complaint from sales reps, in Houston Federal Court; Crossmark, in an overtime complaint from sales reps, in Knoxville Federal Court; U.S. Security Associates, Goldin Enterprises, and SOS Security, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Electrodes Inc., and Evanger's Dog and Cat Food Co., in Chicago Federal Court; Poseidon Pool Service, in San Jose Federal Court; BLD Transfer Station, in Rome, Ga., Federal Court; Roosevelt Place Assisted Living & Alzheimers Specialty Care, in Atlanta Federal Court; Dunmore Oil Co., in Scranton, Pa., Federal Court; and Five J's Trucking, in Fresno Federal Court.
