A Cherokee claims the City of Birmingham and Jefferson County, Ala., discriminate against Native Americans by excluding them from affirmative action policies, in Birmingham Federal Court.

Seventeen workers say Qwest Communications stiffed them for overtime, in separate claims in Phoenix Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Trans California, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Yard House Restaurants, in San Diego Superior Court; Laco Inc., in Alameda County Court, Oakland; and Kraft Foods Global, in Pittsburgh Federal Court.
