Precision Metal Industries fired a black welder for complaining about a white worker who threatened him with a hangman's noose and a pipe, the man claims in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: AutoZone, Time Warner Cable, and Ampac Insurance Marketing, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Southern California Pizza Co., Fabrication Network, and American Two and Auto Repair, in Orange County Court, Calif.; Home Pride Services, in Chicago Federal Court; Durham School Services, in Austin Federal Court; M.H. Williams Construction Group, in Orlando Federal Court; Schreiber Foods, in Nashville Federal Court; Milnick Roofing Co., in Jackson, Miss., Federal Court; and Gemini Traffic Sales, in Gainesville, Ga., Federal Court.

(Companies not separated by commas are defendants in the same case.)
