Gayle Gear, who is white, claims Alabama State University discriminated against her by hiring a black man as its president, in Montgomery Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Quality Fence Co., Davis Enterprises, and Protiviti, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Cargill Meat Solutions, in Milwaukee Federal Court; Visiting Nurse Service of New York, in Brooklyn Federal Court; the Scranton Police Department, for gender bias, in Scranton, Pa., Federal Court; Shalom Torah Academy, in Monmouth County Court, N.J.; Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, and Family Preservation Services of Florida, in Gainesville, Fla., Federal Court.

(Companies not separated by commas are defendants in the same case.)
