Employees Say El Torito Put On a Peep Show

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (CN) - Employees discovered peep holes in the walls of the female employees' bathroom at the El Torito Mexican Restaurant in Cypress, Calif., along with two hidden cameras pointed directly at the toilet, a lawsuit claims in San Bernardino County Court.

After the cameras were removed, the plaintiffs say corporate managers of El Torito erased, destroyed or tampered with much of the evidence. A television and DVD player were later found in the trunk of the general manager's car, the lawsuit claims.

The plaintiffs say the peep holes and at least one of the cameras had been there for about four months, from April to the end of July 2008.

They demand actual and punitive damages for invasion of privacy, intrusion, sexual harassment and negligent hiring.

Defendants include general manager Juan Ortiz, bartender Juan Rivas and busboy Enrique Gamino.

Michael Scafiddi and Anne Chen are representing the plaintiffs.
