BUFFALO, N.Y. (CN) - Empire State Weeklies violated labor law by interrogating an employee about his union membership, creating an impression among employees that their union activities were under surveillance, and telling a worker not to talk about unions, the regional director of the National Labor Relations Board claims in Federal Court.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters/Graphic Communications Conference Local 503 filed an unfair labor practice claim with the board in October 2008.
The board filed a complaint on the union's behalf, saying there is "reasonable cause" to believe its accusations against Empire State Weeklies.
Regional director Rhonda P. Ley seeks a court order requiring the defendant to show cause as to why it shouldn't be subject to a cease-and-desist order and injunction.
