Electrocution Banned |By Nebraska High Court

LINCOLN, Neb. (CN) - The Nebraska Supreme Court ruled that electrocution is cruel and unusual punishment, and outlawed the electric chair in the last state to rely on it as its sole means of capital punishment. "It is the hallmark of a civilized society that we punish cruelty without practicing it," Justice William Connolly wrote in the 6-1 opinion.
