INDIANAPOLIS (CN) - Last-minute lawsuits challenge voting procedures in Indianapolis, Buffalo, and Virginia. In an action in Indianapolis, for example, Marion County is accused of disenfranchising at least 130 voters by disqualifying their registrations because they used an "old form" that provides the same information as the new form.
Indianapolis is the seat of Marion County. Named plaintiff Drametra Brown says she registered to vote on Sept. 30, at the nursing facility where she works. She says she learned on Oct. 27 that her registration had been rejected, and she went to the Marion County Elections Board, which told her it was too late to re-register.
"Approximately 130 other voter registrations have been rejected this year at the Marion County Indiana Board of Elections because they were on an old form," she says. She says the Board has enough information on its "old form" to determine that she and the class are eligible voters.
She wants to vote.
