WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has reopened the comment period on its proposed revised designation of critical habitat for Riverside fairy shrimp under the Endangered Species Act. The comment period has been reopened because a draft economic analysis and amended required determinations are available for review.
The USFWS has revised the preamble to the proposed designation to clarify that certain subunits that the USFWS originally proposed for revised critical habitat designation under on section of the act, are now also being proposed under another section because these areas are essential for the conservation of the species but were not confirmed to be occupied by Riverside fairy shrimp at the time the species was listed in 1993.
