LOS ANGELES – New York real estate scion Robert Durst pleaded not guilty Thursday in the 2000 murder of his best friend, Susan Berman.
Prosecutors say Durst killed Berman to prevent her from revealing what she knew about his involvement in the 1982 disappearance and presumed murder of his wife Kathleen.
Stooped and frail, the 75-year-old multimillionaire stood and told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Windham: “I’m not guilty, your honor. I do not know who killed Susan Berman. … I deny the allegations.”
Windham, who last month bound Durst over for trial, set a hearing on motions in the case for Jan. 14.
