BELLEVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A bartender became quadriplegic from a vehicle accident caused by her employer's encouraging her to drink on the job, the woman claims in court.
Latisha Wilson sued WCW Entertainment dba Club Rolex, in St. Clair County Court.
Wilson says the accident happened on Oct. 18, 2010 after she left her job at Club Rolex in East St. Louis.
Wilson claims the club encouraged her "to drink freely with the customers," and as a result she "became very intoxicated over the course of her shift."
Wilson claims the club's employees knew she was too drunk to drive, but let her leave anyway, which led to her single-car accident on Interstate 44 in Missouri.
Wilson claims the defendant failed to prevent her from drinking while working; failed to prevent her from getting drunk; encouraged her to drink during her shift; encouraged her to get drunk during her shift; and failed to prevent her from driving home drunk.
Wilson says she has been rendered a quadriplegic, has incurred medical expenses, suffered mental anguish, lost wages, disfigurement, total disability and the ability to live a normal life, due to the defendant's negligence.
Wilson, who has been a resident of Midwest Rehabilitation Center since the accident, is represented by Michael Gras with the Law Office of Christopher Cueto.
