MIAMI (CN) – A Guatemalan drug trafficker known as “the Queen of the South” was sentenced Tuesday in a closed hearing in Federal Court after pleading guilty to conspiring to smuggle cocaine into the United States. The government asked the court to reduce her sentence, which could range from 10 years to life in prison, in exchange for cooperation. The sentence judgment was sealed for five years.
