MANHATTAN (CN) – Jamaican drug lord Christopher Coke, who held his country’s police at bay for nearly 20 years, was sentenced on Friday to 23 years in federal prison. Coke, 43, pleaded guilty in August 2011 to racketeering conspiracy and conspiring to commit assault with a deadly weapon. Coke controlled an area of inner-city Kingston, Jamaica, dealt cocaine and marijuana to the United States, and smuggled back guns with which his army controlled his territory.
