Driver’s License Denials

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A federal court in Ohio ruled that a class of minor drivers who were denied licenses due to the citizenship status of their parents have a viable claim for equal protection violations against the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, finding that the disputed policy is discriminatory and does nothing to serve that state’s interest in protecting the public. 

The bureau’s motion to dismiss is denied, and the case may proceed.
