‘Drinking Game’ Kills Boy, 11, Cops Say

JOPLIN, Mo. (CN) - A man and his girlfriend have been charged in the death his 11-year-old nephew, after authorities say a drinking game got out of control. Dale Phillips, 27, challenged his nephew, Tyler J. Fecko, to a drinking game that led to the boy's death, according to documents filed in Jasper County Court.

Prosecutors say Phillip and his girlfriend, Linda Petrait, 27, participated in the game and did not monitor Tyler after the drinking ended. Tyler died from drinking too much. Police said three other children were at home at the time.

Phillips and Petrait were charged with first-degree child endangerment and are being held on $50,000 bond.

Prosecutors said more charges could be filed when the investigation is completed.
