Dr. Phil Sued Over Skin Care

LOS ANGELES - (CN) Two women who say they have worked for Phillip McGraw -- aka "Dr. Phil" -- and his wife Robin on a variety of projects over the past six years have sued the McGraw's for allegedly reneging on promises to promote a line of skin care products on television.

Deborah Flattery and Brynja McGrady claimed that Robin first promised to feature their products on Dr. Phil's Christmas show in 2007 but that didn't happen because the show's producers arranged to feature another line of products created by Robin's "esthetician and friend" Janet Harris. A large gift bag filled with the plaintiffs' products, however, was distributed to the audience at that show.

Robin subsequently allegedly promised to feature the plaintiffs' products in a "special show" coordinated with the publication of a new magazine called "New Beauty." The plaintiffs, however, were told last month that Robin would not assist them in launching their products.

The plaintiffs, who include their companies, Flattery Concepts and Design Inc. and Miracle Hydrate, claim they were forced sign a confidentiality agreement under duress last August to make certain they got paid for work being done on the McGraw home.

According to the suit, the plaintiffs have done interior design work for the McGraws and other services including making medical appointments, scriptwriting, and promoting their son's band.

The suit seeks $650,000 for expenses and $4 million for profits projected from the launch of the skin care line on Dr. Phil's show.

The suit was filed by Steven T. Lowe and Natasha L. Hill of Lowe Law.
