Dr. Luke Denies Alleged ‘Lady Gaga Rape’

MANHATTAN (CN) - The attorney behind Kesha's sexual-assault case has maliciously painted Dr. Luke as Lady Gaga's rapist, the super-producer claims in court.

Earlier this year, sexual assault and defamation were at the heart of dueling lawsuits Lukasz Gottwald aka "Dr. Luke" and pop star Kesha filed against each other on each coast.

Mark Geragos with Geragos & Geragos represents Kesha, going by her full name Kesha Rose Seibert, in the complaint against Gottwald in Los Angeles.

Gottwald filed the latest action Monday in New York County Supreme Court against Geragos and his firm.

"Fueled by his insatiable desire for attention and malice towards the plaintiff, Geragos and his law firm have now made the horrific, outrageous and maliciously false assertion that the plaintiff raped the world famous musical artist Lady Gaga," Gottwald's new complaint states. "This time, Geragos has gone way too far with his arrogant and irresponsible conduct; he has lost all sense of ethics, propriety and decency. His conduct disgraces the entire legal profession and in no way serves any client he represents."

The nine-page action describes several Twitter posts Geragos allegedly published earlier this month and his firm's website later reposted.

Gottwald says the posts appeared on the same day as Gaga's Dec. 2, 2014, interview with radio shock jock Howard Stern, in which she implied that she had been sexually assaulted by a man 20 years her senior when she was 19.

According to the complaint, Geragos linked to an article about Gaga's revelation, as he asked his 48,000 Twitter followers: "Guess who the rapists (sic) was?"

Gottwald says Geragos replied "#bingo" when a follower Tweeted back "lukasz."

"Later that same day, Geragos further defamed plaintiff by giving a statement to the TMZ website that 'I said it' - i.e., that plaintiff raped Lady Gaga - 'because it's true," the complaint states.

Gaga, whose real name is Stephanie Germanotta, has "decried them [the Tweeted remarks] as completely fabricated, and patently insensitive," according to Gottwald's complaint.

The "venomous accusations" are both defamatory and "deeply disrespectful to Lady Gaga and the entire community of sexual assault victims," the complaint continues.

Though Gaga's representatives "publicly ... immediately and unambiguously" refuted the "demonstrably false assertion" that Geragos made, he has not removed the statements, according to the complaint.

In addition to never having met Gaga at the relevant time, Gottwald says he "has never been alone with her, has never touched her, and has met her only twice for very brief periods of time."

Gottwald described himself in the October complaint against Kesha as "a Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer of smash hit musical recordings by artists including Katy Perry, Britney Spears, and Kelly Clarkson."

"Gottwald has written the most Number One songs of any songwriter ever," the complaint states. "He was named by Billboard as one of the top ten producers of the decade in 2009 and the Producer and Songwriter of the Year for 2010, and was the 2010 ASCAP Songwriter of the Year."

Kesha's complaint spoke to the supposedly insidious roots of Gottwald's nickname. "Ms. Sebert later found out that the 'Dr.' in the pseudonym 'Dr. Luke' stemmed from Dr. Luke dealing drugs to entertainers during his ten-year tenure as a guitarist in the 'Saturday Night Live' band," her complaint alleges.

As in his complaint against Kesha, Gottwald is represented in the latest suit by Christine Lepera with Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp. He seeks damages for defamation.

Geragos has not returned a phone call or an email early Tuesday morning seeking comment.
