DOT Heroin Test Doesn’t Require Consultation

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Department of Transportation has revised certain provisions of its drug testing procedures for a heroin metabolite.

Under the revisions, Laboratories and Medical Review Officers no longer will be required to consult with one another regarding the testing for the presence of morphine when the laboratory confirms the presence of 6-acetylmorphine (6-AM).

The Office of the Secretary of the Department of Transportation says the rule is to streamline the laboratory and is meant to facilitate Laboratories and Medical Review Officers verification of 6-AM positive results.
