Donald Trump in ‘Excellent Health,’ Doctor Says in Letter

(CN) - Donald Trump's doctor says the GOP presidential candidate is in "excellent physical health" in a letter released by his campaign Thursday morning.

In the brief, five-paragraph letter, Dr. Harold Bornstein, an internist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, says he's been Trump's doctor since November 1980.

His assessment of the candidate is based on an examination performed September 9.

Bornstein said Trump 70, is 6'3" tall, weighs 236 pounds and has only been hospitalized once in his life at age 11 for an appendectomy.

"If there's one thing I'd like to do is lose a little weight, but that's tough considering the life that I lead," the candidate says in an excerpt from an episode of the Dr. Oz medical show to be broadcast Thursday.

The doctor says Trump gets an annual physical every spring, and that the results of periodic tests including an EKG, chest X-ray, and colonoscopy have always been good - well within the normal range.

Trump's lab results show that his cholesterol at 169, with his HDL cholesterol 62, LDL cholesterol 94.

The candidate's resting blood pressure is 116/70 and his blood sugar level 99.

The letter says Trump does not drink or smoke, and takes only rosuvastatin, a lipid lowering agent, and low-dose aspirin on a regular basis.

Bornstein also notes that Trump's parents, Fred and Mary, lived into their late 80s and 90s, and that there is no family history of premature cardiac or neoplastic disease.
