BROOKLYN (CN) - United States Fire Insurance shortchanges policyholders on veterinarian bills for their insured pets, a class action claims in Federal Court. The insurer offers dog policies through the ASPCA and promises to pay 80% of vets' bills, but reduces its claims payments for "no particular criteria," says the named plaintiff, a dachshund owner. She says the class is owed more than $5 million.
Adrienne Palmer and the putative class are represented by Lawrence Katz of Cedarhurst, N.Y. Palmer's dachshund is named Maizie.
