District Attorneys

ATLANTA — A Georgia law that allows a district attorney appointed by the governor to “serve beyond the remainder of the unexpired four-year term of the prior district attorney” violates the state Constitution, the state’s Supreme Court ruled. The decision means voters in Athens-Clarke and Oconee County will be able to vote for their district attorney in the Nov. 3 general election.
