Discovery on Track for Chocolate Antitrust Suit

SCRANTON, Pa. (CN) - One of the world's richest candymakers must submit to deposition about an alleged conspiracy among chocolatiers to fix the price of cocoa-bean products, a federal judge ruled.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Conner on Monday rejected Mars Inc.'s sealed motion for a protective order to preclude its chairman, John F. Mars, from being deposed.

The company had claimed that the 75-year-old chairman's deposition would constitute an "undue burden." Last year, Forbes named Mars, with a net worth of about $10 billion, the 26th richest person in America.
