Discovery Benefits Wiretaps Calls, Class Claims

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Discovery Benefits invades its consumers' privacy by wiretapping and recording phone calls without first notifying the callers or asking their permission, a class action claims in Superior Court. Lead plaintiff Susan Carmona says the North Dakota-based company "has a policy and practice of recording, monitoring, tapping and/or eavesdropping on telephone conversations at its business locations."

Discovery Benefits provides employee benefits administration and services from its home office in Fargo, N.D.

The class alleges violations of state and common-law privacy rights. Filing counsel is David Parisi with Parisi & Havens LLP.
