Disabled Patients Sue Nebraska

OMAHA (CN) - The State of Nebraska violates developmentally disabled people's civil rights, and court orders, by failing to improve conditions at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, according to a federal complaint. Plaintiffs say that in defiance of warnings from the Justice Department, the state merely removes residents with serious problems from the facility against their will, rather than address problems at the center.

The plaintiffs, six residents and their guardians, are represented by David Domina.
