Disabled Access|Standards Change

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Justice Department has amended its Americans with Disabilities Act regulations regarding nondiscrimination by public accommodations and in commercial facilities, and in state and local government services.

The revisions are to adopt enforceable accessibility standards that are consistent with the minimum guidelines and requirements issued by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board, and to update the public accommodations and commercial facilities part of the regulations to incorporate the agency's legal and practical experiences in enforcing the act since 1991.
