Detroit cops suppressed evidence

DETROIT — A former criminal defendant who pleaded nolo contendere in two separate 2007 sexual assault cases, when he was 19, won partial summary judgment vacating his conviction after he spent more than 15 years in prison. Officers were aware of DNA evidence that could prove his innocence but chose to suppress it, resulting in his wrongful conviction.
