Despicable Conduct

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CN) – A Colorado man was convicted of posing as an immigration doctor to gain access to a 9-year-old girl’s home and sexually assault her.
Kenneth Dean Lee, 57, was convicted on Aug. 7 of four felony counts, including second-degree kidnapping, second-degree burglary, sex assault on a child, criminal impersonation, criminal invasion of privacy and false imprisonment, in Arapahoe County Court.
Prosecutors said Lee called the home of a Vietnamese immigrant family in 2010, claiming to be a doctor from an immigration facility and asked the family who was at the home, their names and ages. Lee also asked to give their 9-year-old girl a check-up, the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office said.
On Oct. 19, 2010, Lee showed up unannounced at the girl’s home claiming to be a doctor from an immigration facility and took the child to a private room and sexually assaulted her. The girl ran out of the room and screamed for help and Lee left the house.
The Aurora Police Department tracked Lee down by looking at the victim’s phone records. Police found that Lee was on probation for a 2008 identity theft case.
Lee faces up to 48 years to life in prison.
“This is one of the most disturbing cases I have come across,” District Attorney George Brauchler said in a statement, “The only outrage greater than this despicable, predatory behavior is that under our Colorado laws, this sexual assaulter is eligible for probation.”
Lee will be sentenced on Nov. 12.
