Dept. of Justice Attorneys Will Monitor Polls

SAN DIEGO (CN) - Federal attorneys nationwide have been assigned to take Election Day reports of problems with ballot access, discrimination, voter suppression and intimidation. Access complaints can be directed to the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at 1-800-253-3931 or (202) 307-2767.

Complaints of intimidation, suppression or discrimination can be made to the civil rights division's criminal section at (202) 514-3204.

The DOJ says it has assigned 800 federal observers and staff workers to 59 jurisdictions in 23 states on Election Day.

In San Diego, complaints can be called in to Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Alexander at (619) 557-7425. FBI agents will take criminal complaints of fraud, intimidation or suppression at (858) 565-1255.
