Deep Problems Over ‘Deep Throat’ Remake

LOS ANGELES (CN) - The makers of "Deep Throat" - the Linda Lovelace movie that was the highest-grossing porn film of all time - claim that Vivid Entertainment breached an agreement for a remake of the 1972 cult classic. Arrow claims Vivid prematurely screened its remake, "Deeper Throat," at the January 2009 Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, aired it on Showtime, and plans to release the film in March under the title, "Throat: A Cautionary Tale."

Vivid was supposed to submit a copy of the finished movie to Arrow before showing it to anyone else, according to the lawsuit in Superior Court. Arrow says the contract gives it 10 days to decide whether to release the film, and gave Arrow the option to buy the rights to the remake.

Vivid's breach also tripped up the parties' contemplated reality television show about the remake, Arrow says.

Arrow wants the profits from "Deeper Throat," an injunction to stop further release of the film, and performance of the contract.

Arrow is represented by Gary Kaufman.
