DC Siblings Plead Guilty to Attack Outside Courthouse

Two Washington, D.C. siblings pleaded guilty Wednesday to attacking a federal prosecutor and a murder victim's daughter outside the District of Columbia Superior Court in April.

(CN) - Two Washington, D.C., siblings pleaded guilty Wednesday to attacking a federal prosecutor and a murder victim's daughter outside the District of Columbia Superior Court in April.

Maurice Hight, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of federal assault on a federal official, while Tieri Hight, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor assault on a federal official and one count of misdemeanor assault in violation of District of Columbia Code.

As recounted in court documents, the Hights were in a Superior Court courtroom on April 5, waiting for the verdict against their brother, who was being tried for murder.

After the guilty verdict was announced, the pair went outside where they saw the murder victim's daughter exiting the courthouse, escorted by a female federal prosecutor.

The Hights confronted the daughter, spitting on her and physically attacking her. When the prosecutor attempted to intervene, Maurice Hight knocked her down and punched her in the face.

Two deputy U.S. Marshals quickly arrived on the scene, placing Maurice Hight under arrest.

The Hights will be sentenced on Dec. 18 before Senior U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman of the District of Columbia.
