Darren Sharper Sued for Sexual Assault

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Former NFL All-Pro defensive back Darren Sharper drugged and sexually penetrated a woman in Las Vegas two years ago, the Massachusetts woman claims in court.

Alicia Lucchetti met Sharper in Las Vegas on Jan. 15, 2014, and he "administered controlled substances" to her, knocking her out, she says in the Jan. 12 complaint in Clark County Court.

She says "Sharper that (she) would not consent to sexual contact" with him, but that while she was unable to consent, he "assaulted and battered" her, "includ(ing), without limitation, sexual intercourse."

"Defendant Sharper is currently incarcerated for the events that give rise to this complaint as well as the sexual assaults of multiple other women," according to the complaint.

Lucchetti says Sharper "used willful and unlawful force and violence" in the sexual assault.

She seeks medical and incidental expenses, lost earnings and lost earning capacity, and punitive damages for assault and battery, emotional distress, conspiracy, and violating California's Drug Dealer Liability Act. She says Sharper brought the drugs from California.

Las Vegas police arrested Sharper on Jan. 16, 2014, and the district attorney charged him with attempted sexual assault, a felony. Sharper pleaded guilty on March 24, 2015, but has not been sentenced, according to Clark County District Court records.

Sharper, 40, is serving a 10-year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty in June 2015 to three counts of rape in a four-state plea agreement for rapes committed in Louisiana, Nevada, California and Arizona.

Sharper's June guilty plea was his fifth date-rape conviction in three months. He is serving 101 months in a federal prison, to be followed by six months in a California state prison, with credit for more than a year in jail while awaiting trial.

He is to be sentenced on March 17 in Clark County Court for the allegations in this case.

Sharper played 14 seasons in the NFL as a defensive back for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, with whom he won a Super Bowl title in 2010. He earned five Pro-Bowl appearances and was named a first-team All-Pro twice, before retiring after the 2010 season.

Lucchetti's attorney, Martin Welsh, could not be reached by telephone Tuesday evening.

Nor could David Chesnoff, whom Clark County records indicate is Sharper's attorney in the matter.
