AUSTIN (CN) - The University of Texas says Attorney General Greg Abbott wrongfully instructed it to turn over information about its Hobby Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment. The University, which runs the McDonald Observatory, says that's secret.
Russell Peterman of Peterman Consulting Associates demanded information on the dark energy project and the Visible Integral-Field Replicable Unit Spectrograph Instrument, including the Project Plan and all funding sources. Abbott ruled that some information is exempt from disclosure, but some is not.
The university says, in Travis County Court, that Abbott's wrong, that the requested information includes trade secrets and financial information whose disclosure would harm it and the State of Texas.
