Damon Runyon

Viacom and MTV India Development Co. violated copyright on Damon Runyon's short story "Madame La Gimp" and two films derived from it, in the Bollywood movie, "Singh is Kinng," American Rights Management claims in Manhattan Federal Court.

Here are the defendants: Viacom 18 US Inc.; Viacom Inc.; Reliance Mediaworks USA Inc. fka Adlabs Films USA Inc.; Studio 18 USA Inc.; Saavn LLC; Viva Entertainment LLC; and MTV India Development Co. Inc.

The previous films derived from Runyon's story are "Lady for a Day" (1961), and "Pocketful of Miracles" (1989).
