Rape Damages

A federal court in Rhode Island awarded a woman who was raped during a study abroad program by a fellow student in housing provided for them by the Rhode Island Schools of Design $2.5 million in compensatory damages for her ongoing and permanent suffering. There were no workable locks on the bedroom doors of the co-ed housing the school provided.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A federal court in Rhode Island awarded $2.5 million in compensatory damages to a woman who was raped during a study-abroad program by a fellow student in housing provided for them by the Rhode Island Schools of Design. There were no workable locks on the bedroom doors of the coed housing the school provided.
