Dallas ‘Church’ Accused Of $238,500 Fraud

SAN JOSE (CN) - A Dallas "church" - Iglesia Jesucristo Es Mi Refugio - defrauded a California nonprofit of $238,500 that the church claimed it would use to buy a TV station, the nonprofit claims in Federal Court. Defendants Roberts Gomez and Antonio Guel knew they would not and could not buy the station with the money, the plaintiff says.

Gomez and Guel live in Texas. Iglesia Jesucristo Es Mi Refugio (Church Jesus Christ is my Refuge) is based in Dallas. Defendant HCCN Inc. is a for-profit corporation based in Mesquite, Texas.

Plaintiff Unidad de Fe y Amor Corp. is represented by Michael Couzens of Oakland.
