Cross burning is a hate crime

JACKSON, Miss. — A man pleaded guilty in Mississippi federal court for burning a cross in his yard to intimidate his Black neighbors, whom he had also disparaged with threatening and racist language. He faces 10 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
