Crimes of violence

SAN FRANCISCO — A person who assaults a mail carrier with the intent to steal mail and put the carrier’s life in jeopardy has committed a crime of violence, the Ninth Circuit ruled, in a suit brought by a defendant challenging his sentence for two such counts of assault after he robbed two postal workers at gunpoint, shooting one in the head.
