CoxCom Wins Ruling in Pay-Per-View Dispute

BOSTON (CN) - CoxCom Inc. showed that it was damaged by an electronics company that marketed a cable filter that would provide free pay-per-views, the 1st Circuit ruled.

Judge Howard affirmed the district court's ruling for summary judgment in favor of the cable company. CoxCom's private investigators discovered that Chaffee International was specifically telling customers that they could use the filters to get free pay-per-views on the CoxCom system.

Howard disagreed with Chaffee's assertion that CoxCom lacked standing to bring a lawsuit against it.

"CoxCom can show a concrete injury in that it is personally affected by the sale of cable filters," Howard ruled.
