Courts clash over minors’ medical records

AUSTIN, Texas — In two Collin County lawsuits, Texas is investigating two doctors for allegedly giving testosterone to minor patients whose gender identities don’t match their physical sex. Over 20 patients asked a Dallas County court to protect their private medical records from being produced in subpoenas filed there by the state, but the Collin County judge ordered the hospitals to begin producing the documents. Now, an appeals court has directed the Collin County court to withdraw its order pending resolution of proceedings in Dallas County, where the judge will decide whether the documents should be protected from release.
