Courthouse Truck Protest Ends in Arrest

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) – A man upset with his child support case tried to back a tractor-trailer into the Madison County Courthouse early Monday morning, police said.      Roy L. Conger, 42, of Collinsville, is charged with damaging government property.     He is being held on $25,000 bail.     Police say they were called about 4:15 a.m. after the tractor-trailer truck had become stuck on the south steps of the courthouse. Conger had left, but later surrendered at the Madison County Jail. The truck damaged some landscaping and concrete stairs at the courthouse.Conger had been involved in a recent court case involving child support payments, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He sought reduced payments after losing his job, Associate Judge Keith Jensen denied it, finding that Conger’s own actions caused him to lose the job.
