(CN) - The 2006 ban on Internet gambling is constitutional, the 3rd Circuit ruled. Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association sued the federal government, claiming the federal law banning online gambling is vague and violates an individual's privacy rights. The Philadelphia-based appeals court disagreed.
The court found that the law "clearly provides a person of ordinary intelligence with adequate notice of the conduct that it prohibits."
It also rejected the New Jersey-based not-for-profit's privacy arguments, finding that gambling is not a private activity.
"Gambling ... is not protected by any right to privacy under the Constitution," the ruling states.
