Court Tosses Claim Over N.Y. Law Journal’s Rates

BROOKLYN (CN) - A New York appellate division dismissed a contract complaint accusing The New York Law Journal of charging higher rates to publish legal notices about the formation of new businesses in New York City than it charges for similar businesses outside the city.

Though the journal is one of only two newspapers used to publish business-related legal notices, the court concluded that "the use of defendants' newspaper as an officially designated newspaper does not make the resulting absence of choice unconscionable."
