Court Remands Case Over Arrest For Finger Pointing

CHICAGO (CN) - A Joliet police officer might have used excessive force in arresting a bar owner for pointing his finger in the officer's face, the 7th Circuit ruled.

James Chelios, owner of Dimitri's Bar & Grill, was upset with Sgt. Lindsey Heavener for ordering him to kick out patrons and shut down his bar on Feb. 20, 2005 because gunshots had been fired in the area.

The judges reversed dismissal of Chelios' civil rights suit against Heavener, Police Chief David Gerdes and the city.
