NEW YORK (CN) - Press zero for Spanish. The 2nd Circuit tossed out a $1 million lawsuit brought by a man from the Dominican Republic who does not speak English, but was arrested and tried without a Spanish interpreter. He claims no one informed him of his right to contact the consulate for his native country.
The court determined that the Vienna Convention provides Ricardo de los Santos Mora with no individual right to sue New York, the state district attorney and the Flushing Queens Police Department for damages.
