Court Lets Tribe Pursue Water-Rights Claims

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The 9th Circuit allowed the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe of Indians to pursue some of their claims that property owners had abandoned or forfeited their claims to water in the Truckee River, which flows into Pyramid Lake within the reservation.

"Alas, we cannot bring this process to a close, but must let parts of it continue on their torturous path," Judge Fernandez wrote. See ruling.
