Court declines to certify class action over tedium

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minnesota federal court denied a class of produce companies’ motion to reconsider the court’s previous denial of class certification for fiduciary duty claims. Since the fiduciary duties and contracts in question are not uniform, the court would have to comb through around 1,400 individual contracts to see if the sued logistics company actually owed a fiduciary duty to every single class member. Additionally, the financial stakes for individual growers are high enough that they could sue on their own.
