Couple Paid Bribes|to Get Defense Work

SAN DIEGO (CN) – A married couple pleaded guilty Wednesday to paying more than $200,000 in bribes to get $4.8 million in defense contracts from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

Elizabeth Ramos and her husband, Louis Williams, of Chula Vista, admitted they paid $200,000 to $400,000 in bribes to Gary and Kelly Alexander for Gary to use his influence as a Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command official to hire them on government contracts. Ramos and Williams ran their own company, Technical Logistics Corp., which did get $4.8 million in contracts as subcontractors for jobs given to Computer Sciences Corp. and Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Ramos and Williams also gave Gary Alexander expensive gifts. Technical Logistics is the second company to admit it bribed the Alexanders to get government contracts.
Ramos and Williams were charged with wire fraud, bribery and tax offenses. Their plea deal must be approved by a federal judge.
The Alexanders and two others are scheduled for a federal trial in January 2010.
