County Clerk Will Become Prosecutor

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (CN) - St. Clair County Clerk Brendan Kelly will replace longtime state's attorney Robert Haida. Kelly was an assistant state's attorney before he became county clerk 2 years ago.

Mark Kern, chairman of the St. Clair County Board, selected Brendan Kelly to replace Haida. Kern will formally nominate Kelly today.

Haida was elected to a circuit judgeship on Nov. 2.

Kelly's replacement has not been named.
