Countrywide Faces Another Class Action

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Countrywide Home Loans illegally refused to pay interest on insurance money placed in escrow for replacement or repairs to homes damaged by Southern California wildfires, a class action claims in Superior Court.

Named plaintiff Hans Van Der Touw says he lost his home in the October 2003 wildfires and deposited the insurance check for $271,000 in escrow with Countrywide.

The class is represented by Walter Lack with Engstrom, Lipscomb & Lack.
