ORLANDO (CN) - Three teen-agers were killed in an auto accident after drinking alcohol and over-the-counter medicine containing dextromethorphan and chlorpheniramine, one late girl's parents claim in Orange County Court. Dextromethorphan cough syrup has become a cheap drug of choice for teen-agers.
The late Ashley Sprayberry's parents sued ABC Liquors, which allegedly sold the teens alcohol, and CVS Pharmacy, which allegedly sold them the cough syrup.
They also sued Sky High Barber Shop, claiming the business is "an open and notorious hangout" that allows and encourages underage kids to drink and take drugs there.
The kids were killed on Aug. 14, 2007, on John Young Parkway in Orlando.
In a separate but related case, the parents of the late Crystal Dickerson sued ABC Liquors and Sky High Barber Shop.Parents in both cases are represented by Mark Morsch of Winter Park, Fla.
